Personal Story from Our Founder:

What I didn't know as a boy growing up is how into music I would be after the age of 10. I remember my sister learned to play the piano before I did, and ever since seeing her play the piano and watching her in the band at her local school, I wanted to play the piano. I wanted to be the musician. I wanted to have those songs and melodies ringing through the house. So I asked my mom and dad to send me to piano lessons, and that's what they did.

When they did, I started piano classes with a friend of mine who was actually in my school. And we would compete with one another. It was great! We would practice together, ands see who could get through the piano books faster. And so it's competition, this drive and wanting to be able to play that helped to propel me into this arena of musicianship and performance.

As I grew and became more mature, I eventually became one of the pianists and organists at my local church(I think this was at the age of 11 or 12). As a result of having to accompany the choir, I learned how to sight read very well, and this sight reading skill is what I take to my lessons with my students, because I believe that you're supposed to be able to read a piece of music that is put in front of you without having to practice.

I began teaching the piano around the age of 16 to adults, believe it or not, and that's been my entry way into teaching. And after that, I of course, opened my own music studio.

It's my prayer that as you peruse the site and contemplate getting the free lessons that you'd take a bit of inspiration from the fact that this has been a long journey for me and all of my years of experience and teaching are now available to you as a piano student.
