What scripture is used for Holy Communion?
There are many scriptures for Holy Communion or The Lord's Supper. But the key text used is from:
Matthew, 26:26-28 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Isn't it interesting that the Lord Jesus used the bread to symbolize His body? In fact, The Bible says that He is the bread that comes down from heaven. And what does this bread symbolize? Bread symbolizes the very source of our existence. It symbolizes the food that we need to eat to preserve our lives.
What The Lord Jesus here is saying is that "you are to eat Me." He's saying, "You are to eat My principles, My teachings, My commandments, My spirit, My life. And by doing so, you will have life within you."

For He says, "Take, eat. This is My body."
It's interesting here as well to realize that the Body of Christ is the Lord's Body, and when the body was broken in communion, the pieces of The Body are shared among the believers, and it shows us that there is grace that He has given to each member of the Body of Christ.
There are nutrients that He's given to each member of the body. And when we partake of Christ or His body, we have the nutrients within ourselves with which to replenish and supply the needs of the Body of Christ; each part is a piece of that bread.
This is what The Apostle Paul was alluding to in Ephesians 4 when he says that each joint supplies.
When we think about coming together and sharing communion at a church service, we are to remember that we are members of one another and your brother or sister in Christ brings to you a measure of Christ, as they have been given by Him, a measure of His grace, His supply.
