How does the Bible describe angels? What do biblically accurate angels look like?
The Bible describes angels in many different ways.
With the angel Gabriel, we often see him like a man in Scripture.
But some other angels, for example, those who rolled away the stone in the scene of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, seemed to have a glory around them that was almost unmistakable because it caused those who encountered them to be afraid.
And that's one of the things that the angels would often say: Do not be afraid.
Angels At Times Have Features of Animals
Angels are also seen in the Scriptures with the features of animals.
For example, in the book of Ezekiel, angels are seen there as having the heads of an eagle, a lion, a man and an ox.
In describing the cherubs, a type of angel, we see that The Scriptures describe them as having four heads.
Many relate the heads of the cherubs to the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Angels Appear Like Men
Angels, many times in scriptures, are seen as men.
When the angels visited Lot, people thought they were men.
These angels in this instance are not depicted or described as having wings or anything like that, but still Abraham was able to distinguish or discern that these "men" weren't regular men.
These "different men", are referred to as angels when they went down to Sodom and Gomorrah to destroy the place and when we see them in the biblical account interacting with Abraham's cousin, Lot.
